The main concept of OpenCourseWare (OCW) is to openly share knowledge. OCW provides solely learning resources and knowledge. Learners are to set their target and decide their way of learning.
Open knowledge and give back to society. Break the high walls of knowledge and the fence of university to make every learner have equal and free access to high-quality course materials and convey the knowledge continuously.
Why do every department promote OCW?
OCW shares high-quality teaching materials and content from every department to the public to increase the attractiveness of enrollment. Besides, the opening of basic knowledge from every department helps departments and teachers of other major to plan and arrange the advanced courses and bring new ideas to the school (new teaching methods, cross-disciplinary cooperation, etc.).
OCW allows educators, students, and self-learners to target their individual needs and cognitive styles as a use or reuse of teaching, learning, and research. For students who want to take the courses, they can understand the learning content in advance to arrange and plan their learning schedule. They can also cross-reference from other courses to help clarify unclear concepts and participate in additional learning. For those students and self-learners who have already taken the courses, they can review the courses again or change the bad impression of the course before.
OCW allows educators, students, and self-learners to target their individual needs and cognitive styles as a use or reuse of teaching, learning, and research. For teachers, OCW not only allows them to concentrate on academics and teaching but also publish high-quality course materials. New teachers can also use it as a reference for lesson preparation and teaching.
